    Th400

I had a TH400 behind my 71 Firebird back in the day. As it only had a 327 in it, I thought it was kinda overkill....anyone running one now behind a mild sbc? If so, what gear are you running?

Are you concerned with milage..3.08 to 3.31, if you have a fat wallet for gas...3.55 to 3.73, lots of RPMs there..

Not really, as far as RPMS, I'll just drop a GV/OD in it...

Why go thru the cost...just install a built 700r4...with 3.73 rear gears and a 3.06 fist gear it will launch hard, with .70 final for cruising.

If i were to go that route, I'd do a 200R4, better gearing and direct fit. Art Carr can build them for up to 1000hp. I've never liked 700s, the 1st to 2nd jump isn't quite right.

From a 3spd standpoint, they are cheap and low maintenance, a GV OD adds cost, but one that transfers to another trans if needed, good for 1000hp, and gives me 6 gears.

Doing the $$$math, it's actually comparable....and it always seems like those 700s "need a rebuild" ever time I ask someone how they like theirs...
